Body Wrap Clay – The Best Types Of Clay To Use In Body Wraps

Body wrap clay is one of the most important ingredients of most body wrap formulas.  There are a number different types of clay that can be used, and each have their own benefits.

Below is a list of the different kinds of clay used in body wrap recipes.  The type of clay you decide to use in your body wrap recipe depends on your specific goals.

Body Wrap Clay #1:  Bentonite Clay

Bentonite has exceptional drawing properties.  This means that it is excellent for pulling toxins out of the body through the skin.  This is the type of clay that is commonly used in facial mask products.  Bentonite can be purchased in liquid form to be taken internally for detoxification purposes, or in powder form.  If you are making your own body wrap recipes, use the powder form.

Body Wrap Clay #2:  French Green Clay

French green clay also used in many commercial products on the market.  It has a high mineral content, and does a great job of drawing toxins out through the skin.

Body Wrap Clay #3:  Red Clay

Red clay has a very high mineral content and is excellent for toning the skin

Body Wrap Clay #4:  Sea Clay

Sea clay is similar to red clay in many respects.  It is particularly good at drawing oils from the skin.  It is commonly used in facials.

Body Wrap Clay #5:  Dead Sea Clay

An excellent clay to help improve the skin.  It’s high potassium content helps regulate moisture levels of the skin.

As you can see, you have many choices when it comes to body wrap clays.  Keep in mind that any of these clays will work well, and I recommend that you experiment to find the clays that work best for your body.

If I had to choose two favorite body wrap clays from the above list, I would choose Bentonite, as it is powerful, versatile, and relatively easy to find.

One more important things to keep in mind when buying body wrap clay is it’s quality.  Just like anything else, there is usually a downside to a low quality product.  Well, the same goes for body wrap clays.  Some of the lower quality products have high levels of ingredients such as aluminum, which can potentially be harmful to the skin and body.  Before you buy any clay, make sure that the company selling it is reputable, and read the ingredients that are listed on the label.

Where to Buy Body Wrapping Clay

If you are unable to find body wrap clay at local health or beauty stores, you can purchase is online.  I have a number of different clay’s available at my online store including:

  • Sea Mud -  A Bentonite clay base with additional seaweed ingredients that are great for the skin.
  • Sea Clay – A Bentonite clay base with additional herbs such as Green Tea and Dandelion.

You should be able to find them at stores that sell skin care products. If not you can ask a local spa and they might be able to help.
