Homemade Skin Cream – Amazing Recipe!

If you are looking for a great homemade skin cream check this out… A few years ago I started making skin cream after I realized how easy it was.  The fact that it is inexpensive to make, uses organic ingredients and works amazingly well made me wonder why anyone considers purchasing the over priced chemical laded lotions!

If you have sensitive skin, homemade skin cream is the best way to go since you are in complete control of the ingredients.  You’d be surprised at how many chemicals even the name brand lotions have in them, and if you suffer from skin sensitivity they can play havoc with your skin.

Making Your Own Skin Cream

To make homemade skin cream you will begin with a base for your lotion.  The base will consist of three ingredients-water, oil and an emulsifier.  Never heard of an emulsifier?  It’s simply an ingredient that helps mix the water and oil.

Here are my favorite ingredients for a homemade skin cream base:

1/2 cup distilled water

1 TBS liquid lecithin

1/2 cup oil (You can use almond, olive, grape seed or macadamia nut oil)

Once you’ve made the base you can experiment by adding other ingredients such as essential oils and herbs.  You can also steep herbs into the water that you use as a base.  The possibilities are endless.

Winter Homemade Skin Cream Recipe

Below is a favorite homemade skin cream recipe for dry skin.  It is excellent for the winter months as it will help sooth and moisturize your dry skin.

1/2 cup distilled water

1/2 cup olive oil

1 TBS lecithin

6-8 drops of Geranium oil

2-4 drops of Myrrh oil

400 IU Vitamin E oil (1-2 open capsules)

Geranium oil helps improve balance and rejufenate dry skin (especially well with wrinkled / mature skin).  Myrrh is a delicate oil that is very good at replenishing moisture.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and helps protect and nourish the skin.

Add all of the ingredients to a small blender and blend at the “whip” or “cream” setting.  For a lighter lotion you can add water as necessary.

Be sure to store the cream in a cool place to keep it fresh.

I hope you enjoy my homemade skin cream recipe and enjoy experimenting with your own concoctions.  If you are trying to improve the texture and appearance of your skin, you may want to try a body wrap.  Please Click Here to visit “Wrap Yourselfs Slim:  Body Wraps Exposed”, to learn about how your skin can benefit from homemade body wraps.

You might have to heat the formula (very low temperature), then you can mix it again.

I like the way this cream feels on my skin, but I found that the oil separated out. What did I do wrong?

  10. dee says:

do you heat the formula first?

  11. Ella says:

    Dee,

The formula is added to water and then heated. This is the mixture that the wraps absorb before they are applied to the body.
