You are probably familiar with traditional herbal or mineral body wraps, but may not have heard of infrared body wraps. This is because they are relatively new treatment, and are less common than traditional wraps. Infrared body wraps have some benefits and drawback compared to traditional body wraps, which I will discuss in this article.
What is an Infrared Body Wrap?
Infrared body wraps are a type of body wrap that relies on radiant heat, and unlike a traditional body wrap, no formula is applied to the skin. You can receive treatment on either the entire body, or specific body parts that need attention.
Although detoxification and inch loss can be achieved with infrared body wraps, they are best served for those who want to treat pain, either chronic (like arthritis) or acute pain like muscle strains and joint sprains.
Infrared body wraps can also aid in weight loss as they will help you burn quite a few calories per session – a bonus for those that can’t make it to the gym regularly!
The Benefits & Drawbacks of Infrared Body Wraps
There are two main benefits of infrared body wraps compared to traditional herbal or mineral based body wraps.
The benefits of infrared body wraps:
- No cloting removal is necessary
- No messy formula’s are applied to the body
- Effective in treating joint and muscle pain
- Can burn up to 1400 calories per session
The drawbacks of infrared body wraps:
- Minimal inch loss & detoxification
- Will not improve skin tone or reduce cellulite as well as herbal or mineral wraps
- Costlier than traditional body wraps (up to $150 per session)
- Are difficult / impossible to perform at home (without expensive equipment)
The bottom line is that if your main goal is pain relieve, then an infrared body wraps is certainly worth a shot. If you are trying to achieve maximium inch loss, reduce cellulite or tighten your skin, I recommend that you stick to traditional body wraps.
Types of Infrared Body Wraps
Although there are a number of different types of infrared body wraps, the two brand names that you will hear most about are Formostar, Thermojet.
Although essentially the same treatment, it should be noted that Thermojet treatment sessions are normally shorter than Fromostar treatments since they use a more intense heat.
I hope this information on infrared body wraps was helpful, and I hope you enjoy your next body wrap treatment!
