Make Skin Soft – How to Naturally Soften the Skin

Are you ready to say goodbye to your rough, dry skin once and for all?  In this article I’m going to share some very effective tips that will make your skin soft!

Those of us that were born with non oily skin often suffer from dry, rough skin-especially during the winter months.  Even if you have oily skin, being exposed to cold weather and wind can quickly dehydrate your skin and couse it to look and feel rough.

Fortunately, there are a number of relatively easy steps you can take to keep your skin soft an smooth…

Top Ways to Make your Skin Soft

Here are five things you can do to keep your skin looking and feeling as soft and smooth as possible.  Be sure that you follow these techniques consistently for best results!

  1. Moisturize – This is probably the most obvious method to keep your skin soft.  It’s important to moisturize your skin once (preferably twice) daily.  Make sure you always apply moisturizer after you step out of the bath or shower, since the water will quickly dehydrate your skin.  Want to try something new?  Make your own homeade skin cream
  2. Use Bath Oil – Whenever you take a bath, be sure to add oil.  Oil will help condition your dry skin and keep the moisture in your skin.
  3. Drink Plenty of Water – Staying well hydrated is a simple way to make sure you body’s water levels do not become depleted.  Dehydration will quickly affect the look and feel of your skin in a negative way.
  4. Exfoliate your Skin - Exfoliating your skin helps remove dead skin cells, and will keep your skin much smoother by reducing rough patches that develop over time.  Be sure to exfoliate at least once a week.  A dry brush is a simply way to exfoliate.  Be sure to apply moisturizer after.
  5. Eat Omega 3 Fatty Acids – These beneficial oils found in certain plants and cold water fish species can be very beneficial to your skin.  They actually help the skin cells hold more water, and decrease the chance of them becoming dehydrated.  The easiest way to consume Omega 3′s is to either take a supplement, or consume fish such as salmon or trout at least once a week.

Tips to Maintaining Soft & Smooth Skin

Here are some tips that will help you maintain soft skint:

  • Skin Softening body wraps are a great way to keep your skin smooth and moist.
  • During the winter months, be sure to use a humidifier.  The more your furnace runs, the dryer the air in your home will be.  The humidity level should be around 50% for optimal skin.
  • When outside, be sure to cover your skin as much as possible.  Wind can damage the skin and will dry it out very quickly making it very rough.
  • Take short baths or showers, and make sure that the water temperature is not too hot as this will quickly dry your skin out.
  • After bathing, pat yourself dry instead of rubbing yourself with the towel.

Well there you have it.  I hope that these tips I’ve outlined help make your skin softer!  If you would like to learn more about skin softening body wraps, please Click Here to download my ebook “Wrap yourselfs Slim:  Body Wraps Exposed”.  I have some great skin softening body wrap recipes and techniques.

Homemade Skin Cream – Amazing Recipe!

If you are looking for a great homemade skin cream check this out… A few years ago I started making skin cream after I realized how easy it was.  The fact that it is inexpensive to make, uses organic ingredients and works amazingly well made me wonder why anyone considers purchasing the over priced chemical laded lotions!

If you have sensitive skin, homemade skin cream is the best way to go since you are in complete control of the ingredients.  You’d be surprised at how many chemicals even the name brand lotions have in them, and if you suffer from skin sensitivity they can play havoc with your skin.

Making Your Own Skin Cream

To make homemade skin cream you will begin with a base for your lotion.  The base will consist of three ingredients-water, oil and an emulsifier.  Never heard of an emulsifier?  It’s simply an ingredient that helps mix the water and oil.

Here are my favorite ingredients for a homemade skin cream base:

1/2 cup distilled water

1 TBS liquid lecithin

1/2 cup oil (You can use almond, olive, grape seed or macadamia nut oil)

Once you’ve made the base you can experiment by adding other ingredients such as essential oils and herbs.  You can also steep herbs into the water that you use as a base.  The possibilities are endless.

Winter Homemade Skin Cream Recipe

Below is a favorite homemade skin cream recipe for dry skin.  It is excellent for the winter months as it will help sooth and moisturize your dry skin.

1/2 cup distilled water

1/2 cup olive oil

1 TBS lecithin

6-8 drops of Geranium oil

2-4 drops of Myrrh oil

400 IU Vitamin E oil (1-2 open capsules)

Geranium oil helps improve balance and rejufenate dry skin (especially well with wrinkled / mature skin).  Myrrh is a delicate oil that is very good at replenishing moisture.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and helps protect and nourish the skin.

Add all of the ingredients to a small blender and blend at the “whip” or “cream” setting.  For a lighter lotion you can add water as necessary.

Be sure to store the cream in a cool place to keep it fresh.
