A body wrap formula that consists of the right ingredients can work wonders, whether your goal is to lose inches, detoxify your body, or improve the look and feel of your skin.

There are many effective ingredients that you can use in an herbal body wrap formula.  The ones that you choose will depend on the actual goals you are trying to achieve.

Below is a list of the most powerful ingredients that can be used in a body wrap formula.  Try to experiment with each of these ingredients and figure out which ones work best for your bode.

Top Body Wrap Formula Ingredients

Below are what I consider five very powerful body wrap formula ingredients.  They are all easy to find at local health food stores or online.

  1. Bladderwrack – This is a type of algae that is highly nutritious and is particularly beneficial to the skin.  If the main goal of your body wrap formula is to improve the skin or reduce the appearance of cellulite, then this this ingredient is a must.
  2. Echinacia – A powerful herb well know for it’s ability to boost the body’s immune system.  It also helps improve circulation, stimulates the lymph glands, and is has strong detoxifying properties.  This is an excellent herb to use in weight loss body wrap formulas.
  3. Ginger – Excellent healing properties, helps reduce joint and muscle pain.
  4. Red Clover – A strong blood purifier, excellent for body detoxification.
  5. Kelp – This powerful seaweed helps accelerate weight loss, ease joint and muscle pain and soften the skin.  Perhaps one of the most versatile body wrap formula ingredients around.
Those are just a handful of very powerful herbs that can be added to your body wrapping formula.  In addition to these herbs, I also highly recommend these ingredients:
  • Aloe Vera - Has very strong detoxifying properties and is one of the best herbs to help soften the skin.  Aloe also helps increase the absorption of other nutrients into the skin.  Aloe Vera is the preferred base of a skin or detoxifying wrap.
  • Sea or mineral salt – High in minerals and iodine, has benefits similar to kelp and other seaweeds.  Well recognized for it’s ability to remove toxins from the body.
I highly recommend that you experiment with some of these herbal ingredients in your next body wrap formula!

Cellulite Body Wrap – What is it?

If you are having trouble reducing the appearance of your cellulite, then you may want to consider trying a homemade cellulite body wrap kit. If you’ve read other posts on my blog you already know that body wraps containing the right ingredients have many benefits, and improving the appearance of cellulite is one of them.

Although cellulite cannot be “removed”, with the right treatment you can make it appear as if it is no longer exists.  Although you will technically always have cellulite, you will not be able to see it.

Here is an example of before and after pictures of a cellulite body wrap using one of the recipes in my ebook:  “Wrap Yourself Slim:  Body Wraps Exposed”

After your cellulite body wrap you will notice that the skin not only feels tigher, but it will also appear much smoother as demonstrated in the above picture.

*Note that the above results were achieve after multiple treatments.  It may take up to 5 wraps before you begin to see results.

How to Perform a Cellulite Body Wrap at Home

A cellulite body wrap is like any other type of home body wrap, and involves the following steps:

  1. Lightly brush your skin to exfoliate it
  2. A liquid or mud based formula is applied to the skin (usually on the thighs or upper arms)
  3. Apply heated ace bandages by wrapping them around your skin
  4. Leave bandages on for at least 45 – 60 minutes
  5. Remove bandages and take a warm shower to remove formula and open the skin pores
  6. Apply post body wrap lotion & anti-cellulite cream

Many people do not exfoliate their skin before applying the cellulite wrap formula to their skin, and this is a big mistake.  Exfoliating the skin is what prepares it for the wrap and enables it to absorb the most nutrients from the formula.

What Makes an Effective Cellulite Wrap?

The key to a really effective cellulite body wrap is the ingredients.  One of the more particularly powerful ingredients to help reduce the appearance of cellulite is Bladderwack which really helps improve the circulation in trouble areas. for this reason I always recommend that this be added to your cellulite body wrap formula.

Want to try a cellulite body wrap?  You can get body wraps at the spa and request special ingredients, however, I recommend that you try your own cellulite wrap at home.  It’s simple to perform, and only takes a little initial preparation.  The best part is the cost saving can be huge ($5 per wrap compared to $50 at the spa).

DIY Body Wrap – The Benefits

As the economy continues to weaken, people are becoming more frugal.  Unfortunately a weekly spa body wrap may no longer fit into the budget.  Let’s be honest… $50-$100 per session isn’t cheap, and in order to really take advantage of the benefits of a body wrap, you need at least two wrapping sessions weekly.

If you’re like me though, you aren’t willing to give up that easily.  If you love body wraps, then there is only one answer:

DIY body wraps!

A DIY body wrap (AKA Do-it-yourself body wrap) is great way to enjoy the benefits of a spa body wrap, without paying the high price.  And cost aside, there are a number of other benefits of a DIY body wrap, which I will outline below:

Benefits of a DIY Body Wrap

There are a number of advantages of DIY body wraps when compared to spa body wraps.

  • Cost – This is the most obvious advantage.  Home body wraps cost between $5-$10 per wrap compared to $50-$100 at the spa.  This means that you can perform up to 10  body wraps for the cost of one spa body wrap-plenty more bang for your buck!
  • Ingredients – When it comes to body wrap ingredients, the big benefit in a DIY body wrap is that you know exactly what ingredients are in your wrap formula, and can add specific ingredients that will improve results.  I always recommend using organic all natural ingredients.
  • Convenience & time – Although wrapping your own body may not be as convenient as having someone at the spa apply it, the fact that you can perform the wrap at any time in the comfort of your home is a huge bonus.  This will also save you lots of time since you will not have to commute to and from the spa.
Don’t get overwhelmed by the whole DIY body wrapping process.  It’s really quite simple…

How do I Perform a DIY Body Wrap?

A DIY body wrap is easy.  You can perform your own DIY wrap by following the following these steps:
  1. Prepare your skin by exfoliating with a dry brush and applying a pre-wrap formula.
  2. Mix your body wrap formula and apply to skin.
  3. Apply your pre soaked wrapping cloths to your body.
  4. Sit for at least an hour after the wrapping cloths have been applied
  5. Remove wrapping cloth, shower, and apply a post-wrap formula to your skin.

And that’s really it!  As you can see a DIY body wrap is simple, and I promise you that it works.

Clay Body Wrap – How Does it Work?

As you are probably aware by now, there are many different types of body wraps.  A clay body wrap (also know as a mineral wrap) is a very popular type of body wrap because it is very effective when it comes to inch loss.

Now the clay body wrap precess really isn’t any different than an herbal wrap, seaweed wrap, or aloe-vera wrap.  The main difference is simply that the core ingredient in the clay wrap is clay!

There actually a number of different types of clay used in body wraps.

Here is more information about clay used in body wraps.

The Clay Body Wrap Procedure

A clay body wrap is a two step process, like all other body wraps except those that are liquid based.  this two step process (absorption and compaction) are what make clay wraps far superior to liquid wraps when it comes to inch loss.

Step #1

Exfoliate your skin and apply a pre-body wrap solution.

Step #2

First, apply the sea clay to your entire body, or the areas that you are treating.  Apply the mud generously, but make sure it is not clumpy or thick in areas.

Step #3

Apply the wrapping cloths to your body.  Make sure the cloths are very warm.  This will help open the pores allowing your skin to absorb the clay.

Step #4

Leave the wraps on your body for about an hour.  Remove in the shower or bath and rinse.  Once clean, apply a post body wrap solution to your skin.

How Do Clay Body Wraps Work?

So you are probably wondering how a clay body wrap works.  Simply put, the clay helps absorb fluid based toxins that are held between the cells.  Once these fluids are removed, the pressure from the wrapping bandages helps squeeze the tissue and compact the pockets where the excess fluid once was.  The body then starts to reconnect these pockets so that they no loger exist.

Clay body wraps are the best types of wraps because they have the highest absorption properties of the different types of body wrap formulas.

If you have never tried a clay body wrap, I highly suggest you do, especially if your goal is to  lose inches.

Do It Yourself Body Wraps

Do it yourself body wraps are becoming quite popular these days.  It’s not that we don’t love being pampered at the spa with a body wrap each week, but that can become quite expensive.  With spa body wraps costing at least $50 per session, a weekly spa wrap could run you well over $200 per month, which many of us just can’t afford to pay.

Fortunately do it yourself body wraps are a great alternative, because they are inexpensive, and they work.  Do they work as well as the spa body wraps?  Assuming that you use the right home body wrap recipes, they can actually work better than spa wraps! [Read more...]

Hollywood Detox Body Wrap – Review

You may have been hearing a lot about the Hollywood Detox Body Wrap lately.  Is it worth the money?  Does the Hollywood Body Wrap actually work?

First and foremost, if you’ve read my blog before you probably know that I’m quite frugal.  As much as I’d love to get spa body wraps every week I just can’t justify the cost, so I’m a huge fan of at home body wraps!

Unfortunately, like most other home body wrap kits out there, the Hollywood Detox wrap really doesn’t offer much value.  Each kit costs $39.95, and contains enough materials to perform only two body wraps, which works out to be almost $20 per wrap.  Sure it costs less than a spa body wrap, but it really isn’t that cheap for what you are getting.

Over the last 10 years I’ve experimented with different recipes, and have found a handful of them that are extremely effective and cost under $10 per wrap on average.  All of my recipes are available in my ebook:   “Wrap Yourself Slim:  Body Wraps Exposed“.  Please check it out! [Read more...]

Body Mineral Wrap – What It Is & How It Works

Body Mineral wraps have been around for decades, and are as excellent treatment for immediate inch loss, and internal cleansing. They also help tighten and moisturize the skin.

Most mineral wraps have some type of body wrap clay in their ingredients. These clays have a very high mineral content, and are excellent at pulling toxins out through the skin.  Bentonite clay is commonly used in mineral wrap recipes because it is particularly good at this.

Tip: The most inexpensive and effective way to perform mineral wraps at home is to make your own recipes, which I outline in my book “Wrap Yourself Slim, Body Wraps Exposed“.

What can I expect from a body mineral wrap? [Read more...]

Home Body Wrap Kits

Have you ever tried  body wrap kits?  Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing more relaxing than a spa body wrap… trust me, I love them!  The problem is that they are quite expensive.  At $50 – $100 per wrapping session, getting regular wraps can become quite costly!

Fortunately there is an alternative to spa body wraps:

Home body wrap kits

The great thing about home body wrap kits is that they are much less expensive than spa body wraps, yet yield the same (if not better) results.

Home body wrap kits are a great way to start out if you have never had a home body wrap before.  They provide you with everything you need to perform your own wrapping session, including the direction, body wrapping formula, and wrapping cloths.

The ingredients of body wrapping kits will vary depending on your specific goals.  These home body wrap kits are not the most inexpensive method of home wrapping, but they are much more cost [Read more...]
