Do it yourself body wraps are becoming quite popular these days. It’s not that we don’t love being pampered at the spa with a body wrap each week, but that can become quite expensive. With spa body wraps costing at least $50 per session, a weekly spa wrap could run you well over $200 per month, which many of us just can’t afford to pay.
Fortunately do it yourself body wraps are a great alternative, because they are inexpensive, and they work. Do they work as well as the spa body wraps? Assuming that you use the right home body wrap recipes, they can actually work better than spa wraps!
Do it yourself body wraps – what do I need?
If you are considering a do it yourself body wrap at home, you are probably wondering what you will need to make a successful wrap. It’s really quite simple actually.
Here is a list of everything you will need to get started:
- Wrapping cloths – you can purchase special body wrap cloths online, or you can use tensor bandages that are found at most pharmacies.
- Body wrap formula – The formula you use will depend on your goals, however, most are clay based with other organic ingredients. The formula can be made at home, or purchased in a body wrap kit.
- Measurement chart – If inch loss is one of your goals, you will want to track results on a measurement chart.
A do it yourself body wrap is a fairly simple procedure. If you are performing your first wrap, you may want a helper, however, as certain areas are hard to wrap on your own.
Before you begin, you will need a body wrapping formula. You have two options here:
#1 – Make your own body wrapping formula – This is the most cost effective way to go and usually leads to the best results since you have full control of the ingredients. Find my special body wrap recipes here.
#2 – Buy a pre-made body wrap formula – This is the easy and fast option. It costs more money but will save some time.

Do it yourself wrap – Step #1
The first step involves applying a thin layer of the body wrap formula to your body. If you are performing a full body wrap, then you would apply the formula to your entire body starting at your legs. If only a certain body part, then you would apply it only to that specific area.

Once you have applied the body wrapping formula to your body, it’s time to start wrapping! If this is your first time wrapping, it will be easier to have a helper. Once you have done it a few times, you will probably be able to do it by yourself.
Begin by wrapping the the cloths around the skin, overlapping each time you go around. Make sure that the cloths are wrapped relatively tightly, but not so tight that your circulation is hindered.

Relax! This is the easiest part of the do it yourself wrap. Just relax in a warm room for 45 – 60 min. Read a book or magazine, watch TV, listen to music etc. Whatever makes you feel calm.

Once the 45-60 min is up, it’s time to remove the wrapping clothes. I usually recommend that you do this in the bathtub, since it can be quite messy. Once you have removed the cloths, take a warm bath or shower. Make sure that you apply moisturizer to your body generously after the bath or shower.
And that’s it! Once your wrap is completed it’s time to enjoy the benefits of your at home body wrap! Your skin will feel great and you will have likely lost inches.
