I just finished doing my second healing wrap, and I am finding myself with a little dilemma. I want to get your input and see what other people’s experience has been. Here’s my question – when you heat the wrap cloths in the herbal formula solution, do you put the cloths in rolled, or do you unroll them and then reroll them hot just before you apply them?
I have done it both ways and I have found some advantages and disadvantages to each method.
The first wrap I did, I unrolled them before putting them in the solution. I’m not even sure why I chose to do that, I don’t know if I read it somewhere or it just made more sense to me, but as I started doing the wrap, I was slowed down because I had to pull each cloth out of the solution and roll it up before I could apply it. The wraps aren’t in boiling water, but they are still very warm, so it was a little hot on the hands to do it this way.
The second wrap, the one I just did, I put the wraps in the solution already rolled. I made sure the cloths were submersed and well soaked with the solution. It made applying the wrap much quicker because I didn’t have to go through the step of pulling each one out and rerolling them, but, as I started wrapping myself in the cloths, I quickly found a flaw in this method…the inside portion of the wrap cloths were extremely hot! Almost to the point of being uncomfortable when I wrapped with them.
So, now I don’t know which method is better. I definitely liked the convenience of having the cloths already rolled, but I did not like having them be so hot. Is my solution too warm? Do I need to apply them more slowly and let them cool down for a bit as I’m putting them on? Do I need to go back to soaking them unwrapped and get some gloves to make it easier?
I think the ideal solution is probably the specially designed ‘body wrap warming oven’ especially if you prefer to wrap in a more comfortable room than the kitchen!
