Today is the big day. I just finished doing my first wrap! It was fabulous. And surprisingly easy. But before I give you my results, let me share with you a few pointers that I learned.

Block out several hours to give yourself time to make this a relaxing activity. No pressure of having of having to run out to an appointment or go pick up somebody. Is morning the best time? Or maybe for you, it’s the afternoon. Especially for your first wrap, plan on about four hours from start to finish.  Don’t worry, future treatments will be much faster.

Get your space prepared before hand. Gather everything that you think you’ll need so that you’re not walking around like a dripping mummy through the house to get another bowl or more formula. After careful consideration, I chose to do my wrap in the kitchen.

Here are some of the advantages I found from using the kitchen:

Easy access to the stove to keep the wraps warm
Big sink nearby
Lots of counter space
Easy to clean floor

Disadvantage:
No mirror, but maybe you have one you could bring into the room. I don’t.

Another couple tips and reminders:

1. Drink plenty of water, have a glass nearby as you’re wrapping
2. Go to the bathroom before you start wrapping. Once those things are on, you’re kinda stuck
3. Before you do the wrap, set up your space where you are going to lay down for an hour. If it’s in the bedroom, lay towels out on the bed, get a blanket ready and put a glass of water nearby.
4. Do take measurements before!
5. Don’t unroll the wraps when you put them in the heating pot. I don’t know why I thought I should, maybe so they would soak up the formula better, but I just had to re-wrap them before I could use them and then they were hot!!
6. Put your hair up and out of the way before you get clay on your hands.
7. Do have fun and relax. The wrap feels great.

So, onto the wrap process itself. Prepare the wrap clothes by making the warm heating mix. Put a gallon of water in whatever you’re using to heat them up. I considered using the rice cooker, so that I could easily move it if needed, but I decided to use a big pot on the stove top. It worked really well.

Pour one cup of the herbal concentrate into the water and start heating it. I unrolled the wraps and put them in, making sure that they all soaked up the liquid. Next time, I won’t unroll them, I just had to re-roll them to apply them. It was much harder when they were hot.

Once the wraps were nice and warm, but not boiling hot (recommended temp is about 120 F), I started the treatment.

I was using the sea mud, which has a slight green tinge to it and a nice cool feel. It’s just like making mud pies or playing at the beach, just scoop out a handful of mud and slather it on your body. Start at one ankle and work your way up the leg.

I put mud all the way up to the top of my thigh and then got a roll of wrap and started. It was easy to do myself, just like putting on an Ace bandage. Just secure it in place by overlapping it once, than pull and stretch as you unroll it round and round your leg. Don’t pull too tight, but make it nice and firm. Secure the end by tucking it in, or using one of the clasps that come with the wraps. I did both. Some places it was easy to tuck in the edge, but some of them really needed to be attached.

I did this for both legs. And was definitely feeling a little mummy like.

Next was the butt and stomach area. I wanted to make sure that I got the wrap nice and tight in this area, since it’s definitely one of my targets. I applied the clay under my bikini and then started wrapping. I have to say that the combination of the cool clay with the warm wraps and the nice snug feeling they provide is really nice. I like how it feels.

I worked my way up the body, going all the way to my chest. I then did both arms, which was a little tricky, but not too bad, I just had to adjust to using only one arm.

The shoulders and upper back were admittedly a little harder to do alone. I had a moment where I felt like a dog chasing its own tail trying to pull the wrap around my back. I would recommend either practicing this with the dry wraps, or enlisting the help of a friend, which is what I did. We weren’t positive quite how to do the shoulders, so we wrapped it around and under the armpits and across the front and back. I think it worked quite well.

Then was the really fun part, doing nothing for an hour. Now, you can actually choose to do light exercise, like walking or jumping on a mini trampoline. I’m going to try that another time, but for the first one, I wanted to just completely relax and enjoy.

I live where it is very warm, so I thought I’d take advantage of the heat by lying on the balcony. The sun wasn’t on me directly, and after I put on the sauna suit (oops, no wonder I was so cold the first 10 minutes), I was perfect. I didn’t need a blanket on top of me, but I could feel the wraps cooling down as time went on.

I must have been so relaxed that I dosed off because next thing I knew, the one hour alarm was going off.

Taking off the wraps was easy, just unroll them and throw them in the sink so you can wash them later. Use a warm towel to wipe off the excess clay. Don’t take a shower for a couple of hours, even though the wraps are off, the formula keeps working.

Next comes the best part, taking your post measurements!!

Best,

Sara
