Losing
Weight Starts with the Soul
by Danielle Sims
part 2
In part 1 of this series, I gave you an overview and a short history
of the Bach Flower Remedies. The 38 remedies have been used for
over 60 years successfully by professionals as well as laymen.
Uses & Preparation
Bach flowers come in small dropper bottles. There are several ways
they are taken:
1) For acute cases, 2 drops can be placed in a little spring water
and sipped periodically until you feel better.
For example, if you were taking a test a school and was feeling
anxious. You could place 2 drops of the desired remedy in a little
water and sip it before the test and, if possible, during the test.
2) When there is a long standing issue that needs to be worked
through, a treatment bottle needs to be prepared. To prepare a
treatment bottle, use a 1oz dropper bottle filled with spring water.
Add 2 drops of the specific remedy/remedies (when using more than
one remedy, add 2 drops of each).
A long standing issue can be the coping with the loss of a loved
one. To help you cope with grief and deal with the pain, a good
remedy to start with is Rescue Remedy, which will be discussed
later.
I mentioned in the first part of this series that Rescue Remedy
is a great remedy to start out when you are starting your weight
loss plan. Rescue will give you a calm approach to your diet,
help you to control urges, and help you relax when you feel stressed.
Hornbeam - Vitality Remedy
Another helpful remedy is Hornbeam. Hornbeam is described as "The
Vitality" remedy. When you have the desire to start a diet,
an exercise plan, new healthier eating habits, but you just can
get started or continuously put it off. Hornbeam can help you 'get
in gear' and start doing what you have repeatedly put off. It can
give you the enthusiasm and energy to do what you have to do.
Sometimes
the reaction is instantaneous. You will begin a cleaning frenzy,
shop for foods for your diet, map out a plan for change,
etc…
If the idea of starting your diet causes you stress, you can prepare
both Hornbeam and Rescue Remedy in a treatment bottle to be taken
at different intervals during the day. Preparing the treatment
bottle was discussed earlier in this article. Hornbeam will help
you start your program and Rescue Remedy will relief the anxieties
or stress that you may experience by taking action.

Do you feel like you have no control over cravings? Can't control
your eating habits? In part 3, a remedy that can help with cravings
and feelings of not being in control will be discussed.

"It's Not All Your Fault"
by Kathy Thompson
Your weight problem is not all your fault! Other reasons need
to be looked at. When you understand these five reasons for your
dieting problems, you can win the diet game, and set up a good
relationship with food for the rest of your life.
5. SUPERMARKETS EXPOSED! Were you ever taught how to shop for
food? Probably not. You need to consider the layout of the store,
(it's tricky) how the products are displayed. Then you need to
learn to read labels and ingredients. 70% of the products on the
shelves are there just to take your money. If nature didn't make
it, you don't need it. RESTAURANTS -Ask how your food is prepared.
Ask to see the kitchen. When was the last time they were inspected.
What was their rating? At Fast food restaurants ask the nutritional
contents of the food you order!
4. VENDING MACHINES ARE RIPPING YOU OFF! Besides losing money,
and charging too much, the products are fatting, salty, and addictive.
3.
COUPONS ARE A GIMMICK to convince, entice, persuade you to buy
a product
you don't need in the first place. Save 50 cents
on Fruit Loops, when you could save $3.50 if you didn't buy it.
How often do you see coupons things you do need; fresh produce,
eggs, "real" meat.
2.
ADVERTISERS ARE SABOTAGING YOU WITH THEIR ADS. What they do is "CREATE" a problem or fear, that their product will
solve. Total cereal claims you're not getting all your vitamins
(20 bowels of this = 1 bowel of Total). Eat Total and solve your "so-called" problem.
1. YOU use food as an excuse or crutch. When you are happy, sad,
depressed, stressed, what do you do---eat! Food is energy. Food
gives you energy. Food is what you are made of. Food keeps you
healthy. That is all. But we put so much emphasis on food, and
associate it with everything. Your body knows what it needs. Use
it, don't abuse it.

Are Weight Loss Supplements Worth It?
This
article is brought to you by Best Weight Loss Tips.
What do you think of the hundreds of weight loss supplements out
there on the shelves today? Are they worth the money? Will they
actually help you lose weight? How do you know which ones are going
to work for you? Is there any proof that these products work?
I've taken some time and researched some of the most popular product
to try to find the answers for you. The truth is, most products
won't help you lose anything but money. There are a few, however,
with some research behind them that prove that they actually work.
What are these supplements that work? It seems that only four
products hold the best promise for those of us who want to slim
down. They are Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), Hydroxycitic Acid
(HCA), phaseolomine, and possibly 5-HTP.
1. Conjugated Linoleic Acid, CLA, has a number of research studies
behind it. It is a fatty acid that has been found to reduce cancer
risks, body fat and to increase lean muscle tissue. The Journal
of Nutrition reported a Scandanavian Research team found CLA to
increase the lean body mass of humans and also to decrease the
fat mass. Subjects also had lower blodd fat and cholestrol after
taking CLA. CLA does occur naturally in meat and dairy products,
but the levels are pretty low. Also, if you're following a healthy
low-fat diet, you tend to not get as much meat and dairy, so supplementation
may be the answer for getting a healthy dose of CLA.
2. Hydroxycitic Acid, HCA, is derived from a fruit, Garcinia cambogia
or Malabar tamarind. It seems to work by inhibiting an enzyme that
converts carbohydrates to fat. It also seems to suppress the appetite.
Studies on humans have had mixed results with one study showing
significant weight loss in participants. Another study using a
high fiber diet, showed HCA had no effect on weight loss. Critics
think the high fiber diet prevented absorbtion of the HCA. So,
if you're on a high fiber diet, HCA may not be for you.
3.Phaseolomine is derived from the white kidney bean. It works
by reducing your body's absorbtion of starchy carbohydrates. Since
you absorb fewer calories, you lose weight. Seems like this supplement
would be great to take if you knew you were going to indulge. Research
has also shown that you burn more fat while taking phaseolomine.
Subjects in one study lost 10% of their body fat in 30 days. Phaseolomine
is typically found in carb blocker products.
4.5HTP works by increasing the level of Serotonin in the brain
resulting in more stable emotions, better sleep and weight loss.
I take 5HTP myself and have found it to be an excellent appetite
suppresant as well as a mild mood booster. In one study where women
were given either a placebo or 5HTP and a 1200 calorie diet, those
who took the placebo lost 2.28 pounds and those who took 5HTP lost
10.34 pounds. This was accomplished in 6 weeks. Are there other
supplements that work? There may be others that will stand the
test of time and research, but for now these are the best non-prescription
supplements I've found to enhance your weight loss efforts. Good
luck losing the weight you want to lose!

A Facelift Without Surgery (...and for free!)
by Jan Andersen
Wouldn’t
it be marvellous if someone told you that you could dispense
with all those overpriced creams and treatments
that, allegedly, promote youthfulness, increase weight loss, remove
cellulite, wrinkles and saggy, baggy skin? And that the reason
you could discard all these gimmicks, whose only effect has been
on your wallet, is because you could achieve greater results for
free.
What’s the catch? I hear you ask. Nothing comes free these
days does it? Well, actually, yes it does. And, as the saying goes, “The
best things in life are free.” Unless you put a price tag
on the minutes per day that you would need to allocate in order
to fight old age and illness.
Zone
Therapy is a quick and simple technique of touching and pressure,
the
principles of which are based on the scientific fact that the
body is an electromagnetic field. When this field is upset, illness
and ageing can result. Zone Therapy is a recognized therapy that
has been around for years and is not a passing ‘fad’.
The world guru in Zone Therapy is Joseph Corvo, a Yorkshire-born
practitioner, who has practised his techniques on film stars, Royalty
and top politicians.
The
body is divided into ten zones – five on the left side
of the body and five on the right - which incorporate every organ
in the body. Since ageing and illness is caused by a decrease in
the electro-magnetic currents running throughout the body, Zone
Therapy enables these currents to run freely again and remove crystalline
deposits around the nerve endings.
The news that will be of interest to many women, is that by devoting
just ten minutes a day to a few simple facial exercises can make
you look more youthful, more beautiful and more healthy! In fact,
these exercises can be performed anywhere, although it might cause
a few odd stares if you carry them out in public! This is not just
a question of vanity. Strangers initially judge us by our faces,
unfair as that may seem. During interviews, for example, your face
is under constant scrutiny and it stands to reason that if you
feel confident about the way you look, you will exude an aura of
confidence and
The Face Plan
Exercise One
Pucker your lips tightly, leaving a small hole as though you were
about to whistle. Shut your eyes and continue to force your lips
forward as though you are trying to reach an object in front of
you. Hold this position for twenty seconds.
Exercise Two
This exercise involves doing the reverse of the above exercise.
Open your eyes wide and raise the eyebrows. Open your mouth as
wide as possible, stretching it to its limit and concentrating
on pulling every part of your face away from your mouth. Hold this
position for twenty seconds, then repeat exercises one and two
alternately for two minutes.
Exercise Three
Close your mouth and clench your teeth, then force the corners
of your mouth down towards your chin, so that all the muscles in
your neck are taut and stand out. Hold this position whilst to
keep the upper part of your face relaxed. Next bring the chin muscle
upwards, causing the corners of your mouth to contract towards
the centre of your face and hold. Do four very slow movements,
then eight fast. This exercise improves the jawline.
Exercise Four
Tilt your head back as though you were looking at the ceiling.
Next place the palm of your right hand in the centre of your forehead.
Try to bring you head back to its normal position whilst resisting
with your hand, as though someone were pushing your head back against
your will. Repeat this exercise six times in total. Exercise Five
Bring your head forward onto your chest and place the palm of
your right hand on the back of your head. Force your head back
up whilst resisting with your hand. Repeat six times initially
and then alternate this exercise with exercise four. These two
exercises build up the muscles in your throat and neck.
Exercise Six
Puff
out your cheeks, as though your mouth were full of water and
purse your
lips as tightly as you possibly can. As Joseph Corvo
says, “Squeeze your mouth to the size of a pea.” Following
this, slap your face with both of your hands for two minutes. This
might sound a trite masochistic, but it works wonders!
For maximum benefit, the above exercises can be used in conjunction
with the ten-minute facial massage, which concentrates on key points
on the face and will be detailed in part two.
These exercises will do more for your face than any number of
expensive creams and potions and the real beauty is that you can
practice these whilst watching TV, doing the ironing or undertaking
any other task when you are not in public view!
Zone Therapy is the only programme that gives your body a total
workout from the inside out. Not only can it make you look and
feel younger, but it can alleviate pain, disease and all manner
of medical illnesses.
Why not try it. After all, you have nothing to lose except the
years.
