Losing
Weight Starts with the Soul part 5 - Impatience & Setbacks
by Danielle Sims
The weight loss process can sometimes be a long journey for
most of us, depending on how big your obstacles are and how much
weight you need to loose. You may experience setbacks during
your program and feel discouraged. You may binge, miss a workout
day, or simply want to give up. This can lead to feelings of
depression, irritability, frustration or tension making your
program very stressful. These emotions can have a negative
effect on digestion causing indigestion and spasms. When
digestion suffers it makes it increasingly harder to drop those
unwanted pounds.
Two remedy that can assist in dealing with feelings of
impatience and discouragement, are Impatiens and Gentian.
Impatiens is a remedy that can help you cope with stress and
allow you relax. It is good to note that it is in Rescue Remedy
formula. If you plan to take Rescue Remedy (discussed in part
1), then you do not need to add this remedy in your Bach
formula. As you start to use Impatiens you start to become more
tolerant, patient, relaxed and gentle towards yourself. If you
are prone to be impatient, then this remedy can be taken for an
extended amount of time since it can be a personality type
remedy. The indications of this personality type are:
o Irritable. Impatient. Nervous. Mental tension.
o Everything needs to get done quickly.
o Finishes sentences for others who are seen as slower.
o Prefers to work alone.
o Slow workers irritate you.
If exhibit some of these characteristics throughout your daily
living, then you are more than likely exhibiting some of the
negative feelings during your weight loss program, Impatiens can
make the difference.
The discouragement felt when there is a set back can also cause
stress and make you want to give up. Gentian is the remedy for
those that are easily discouraged. The states that call for this
remedy are:
o Negative outlook.
o Despondent and discouraged at setbacks.
o Refuses to believe that it is the lack of faith and
understanding that prevents you from overcoming problems
o Failure to understand that a negative mentality attracts
discouragement.
Gentian can help you feel that no obstacle is too great and no
task is too big. You can experience a greater conviction an
resolve to "hang in there" and to never give up. Set
backs can
have no affect while becoming more optimistic.
When following a weight loss program, we can become too rigid
becoming hard taskmasters on ourselves leading to self-denial.
This extreme state can come from a negative self- image. I will
describe two remedies that are beneficial when dealing with a
negative self-image and being too rigid during your weight loss
journey.

for you, got to the Nelson Bach Bach Flower Remedy information

Mangos:
Treat Your Skin and Your Taste Buds
byDanielle Sims
Mango is my favorite fruit next to pineapples. They’re
sweet, juicy and delicious. This extraordinary fruit contains
high amounts of vitamin A (contributing to it’s meaty bright
orange color). It also contains Vitamins B, C , calcium, potassium
and cartonoids (helps protect against cancer, common cold, and
heart disease). They are also high in fiber and low in carbohydrates,
making it an excellent addition to everyone’s diet.
A great way to include mangos in your diet is to make deliciously
simple smoothie.
1 mango
½ cup plain yogurt
1 cup milk or soy milk
1 TBS Raw Honey
6-8 ice cubes
Combine the meat of the mango and all other ingredients in a
blender. Blend until creamy. Enjoy.
Skin Treatment
If you can resist eating this delicious fruit, you can treat
your skin to a wonderful mango scrub. This scrub will leave your
skin feeling soft and smooth.
1 mango
½ cup sugar
1TBS honey
2 TBS whole milk
Blend mango meat, sugar, honey, and milk in a blender until
it is smooth. Stand in the tub while rubbing this treatment all
over vigorously. Rinse with warm water and finish with cool water.
Body Butter
After your mango scrub, your treatment is complete by adding
a non-greasy body butter. Using both the scrub and body butter
can leave your skin feeling soft for days.
This body butter recipe contains mango butter (you guessed it!).
Mango butter is surprisingly inexpensive. Especially since cosmetic
companies are using it for skin care treatments and charging
prices as high as $40 for the increasingly popular body butters.
You can find it for about $10.75 per pound online.
2 oz mango butter
1 oz olive oil, almond oil, kukui nut oil, macadamia nut oil,
etc…
1 TBS(or more) cornstarch (to make it less greasy)
6-8 drops of Fragrance of your choice (try vanilla, lavender,
or mix your own)
Melt the mango butter in a double boiler or you may use the
microwave. When using the microwave, set the temperature on medium
and check every 45 seconds. When the mango butter is completely
melted, add oil and cornstarch and stir until it is a nice creamy
consistency. Add essential oil or fragrance last. Allow your
butter to set in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
There is more than one way to enjoy mango. Eating mango of course
is my favorite!

A Refreshing Pina
Colada for your Face
by Danielle Sims
Pina Coladas remain a favorite at popular beach vacation spots.
Imagine your skin taking a refreshing sip of this popular drink!
I'm referring to the non-alcoholic version, of course. Rich,
creamy coconut milk and exhilarating pineapple make the pina
colada a tasty treat as well as a wonderful facial mask.
Pina Colada Mask
1 TBS Coconut Milk
2 TBS Honey
1 TBS mashed Pineapple
1 TBS of Plain Yogurt
Mix all ingredients together. Apply to your clean skin and leave
on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off the mask with cool water to close
your pores. You may not need to add a moisturizer after your mask,
since the coconut milk contains plenty of oil.
Coconut milk contains natural emollients which help to moisturize
the skin, helping to prevent it from wrinkling. The oil in coconut
milk locks in moisture and softens the skin.
Honey is an excellent treatment for the skin and is used frequently
in skincare products. It contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
properties which can effectively help treat minor cuts, abrasions,
and burns.
Pineapple contains a protein-digestive enzyme called bromelain
which helps rid the skin of dead cells and dirt. The tingling action
that is felt when this facial mask is applied is the enzymes in
the pineapple working.
Yogurt helps to cleanse the skin with the exfoliating properties
of lactic acid it contains. Lactic Acid is a mild alpha-hydroxy
acid and can help balance your skin's acidity.
This mask recipe can also become a tasty smoothie. You will need
to adjust the recipe to make a delicious pina colada smoothie.
Pina Colada Smoothie
½ cup
Coconut milk
½ cup pineapples
2 TBS honey
¼ cup yogurt
6 ice cubes
Blend all ingredients in your blender and drink.
Now there is one more reason to enjoy a pina colada!

7 Winter Exercise Tips for Busy People
by
Dale Reynolds
Many people find summer exercise easy, because there are so many fun activities
available when it's warm outside. But if you live in the North, you might find
exercise during the winter much more difficult. I refuse to run outdoors when
it's very cold, the road is icy, or the snow banks have narrowed the road significantly.
But I also refuse to hibernate, since exercise helps improve your immune system
to help you fight off winter colds and flu, and also gives you energy and a
positive outlook. So, here are a few tips to get you thinking about staying
active all year long!
Find exercise videos you love, and carve out a space indoors with
the equipment you need. I exercise in my basement all year long,
and add outdoor activities when weather permits. The great thing
about having an exercise video collection, and the right space,
is that you have absolutely no excuses! Weather, time of day, long
lines for equipment, etc. will not stop you from burning calories!
My personal favorites come from The Firm, and my favorite place
to shop is Collage Video. Visit my website, www.slimdale.com and
click on Links to get there.
The new fall television lineup will be here soon. Use TV commercial
breaks! Many people ignore strength training because they feel
cardio burns more calories. But adding muscle to your body will
raise your metabolism, allowing you to burn more calories all day
long. Resistance training also strengthens your bones, and just
getting stronger can help you with a multitude of daily activities.
So find a book, magazine article, wall chart or other resource
showing exercises to work all major muscle groups, and do a set
of repetitions during each commercial. You'll get a 20-minute workout
during one 60-minute show!
Join a walking club at a local school, or walk inside a shopping
mall. You can window-shop before the stores open so you go right
to the store that has the best sales or the styles you love when
they are open.
Park farther away from the door and walk. At work, at the grocery
store, at the mall; any place where you're stuck walking outside
anyway, just bundle up and get a few extra steps. When indoors,
take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. You'll burn
lots more calories. You can even try using restrooms, copy machines,
etc. on a different floor just to get more exercise. Consider wearing
a pedometer and challenging yourself to keep increasing your steps
per day.
Use your lunch break if you work in an office. If your company
has a gym, use it. Walk outside when the weather permits. If it's
raining or snowing, walk laps around the parking garage or laps
around each floor perimeter plus the steps between floors.
Be less efficient! If you live in a multi-story house, take as
many trips up and down the stairs as you can instead of saving
things to go up or down. At the office, take a walk to see your
coworkers instead of always using email. Face-to-face conversation
is often better anyway, as it avoids misunderstandings and leads
to better bonding and teamwork.
Consider winter sports. Skiing (downhill or cross-country), ice
skating, and snow-shoeing can all burn lots of calories. Also,
just play in the snow! Go sledding or build a snowman, and make
some snow angels!
I hope these tips help you to stay active this winter! Remember,
the key to weight loss is to burn more calories than you consume
(and weight maintenance is balancing the intake and the burn equally
over time.) If you don't burn calories with exercise, you'll need
to cut your food intake, and that will be especially difficult
during the holidays. I personally would rather exercise more and
enjoy a few holiday cookies! So get in the habit of exercising
consistently now!
